I want to learn lyrical dance. Do I need ballet?

by Anonymous

I want to learn Lyrical dance, but I'm not sure if I need to learn ballet in order to do it. When I was 7 I did ballet until I was 9. Later, due to some other sports I had to quit. I am currently 12 years old and I want to learn Lyrical. Do I also need to know a lot of ballet or jazz?

Dear Issi,

It is not mandatory to study ballet for learning lyrical dance, but if you do it, it will help you a looot. The same with jazz, but you should search for jazz styles that are close to the lyrical style.
